Graphic tribute to Lyonel Feininger and Bauhaus in Weimar

This project comes out the Graphic Design course at ISIA Firenze.

The brief was to design an editorial product and three posters inspired the Centenary of the Bauhaus (1919 - 2019). Focused on Lyonel Feininger, the creator of "The Cathedral of Socialism" the woodcut print for the Bauhaus Weimar manifesto wrote by Walter Gropius, I decided to be inspired not only by the surface of the work of the Bauhaus but by its essential aspect of the teaching. Before a milestone of the Modernism, the Bauhaus was a school of Design that teaches and educates through handicrafts the mindset of a Radical designer. The importance of Bauhaus is that it was focused on the designer rather than the design, the collective rather than the person.

Questo progetto nasce dal corso di Graphic Design all'ISIA di Firenze.

Il brief era quello di progettare un prodotto editoriale e tre poster ispirandosi al Centenario del Bauhaus (1919 - 2019). Focalizzato su Lyonel Feininger, il creatore de "La Cattedrale del Socialismo", la stampa in legno per il manifesto del Bauhaus Weimar scritto da Walter Gropius, ho deciso di ispirarmi non solo alla superficie del lavoro del Bauhaus ma dal suo aspetto essenziale dell'insegnamento. Prima di una pietra miliare del Modernismo, il Bauhaus era una scuola di Design che insegna ed educa attraverso l'artigianato la mentalità di un designer radicale. L'importanza del Bauhaus è che era incentrato sul designer piuttosto che sul design, sul collettivo piuttosto che sulla persona.

Research

Based on a research about the history of Feininger and the graphic work of the Bauhaus, I designed the grid and the layout starting from the most significant graphic element of the Bauhaus publications.

Sulla base della storia di Feininger e del lavoro grafico del Bauhaus, è stata progettata la griglia e il layout a partire dagli elementi più significativi delle pubblicazioni del Bauhaus.
